Dr. Sankha (Bobby) Basu currently serves as the Chief Medical Officer of PhAST, where his central focus is in the clinical and regulatory affairs of the company. After completing his undergraduate studies at MIT, he received his MD and PhD degrees at UPenn School of Medicine, followed by a residency in Clinical Pathology and fellowship in Medical Microbiology at Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH). Following a post-doctoral fellowship, he stayed on at BWH to serve as the Assistant Director of Microbiology as well as in Chemistry and Mass Spectrometry. He then took on the role of Director of Clinical Microbiology at Tufts Medical Center prior to joining PhAST last year. His primary focus includes the design and development of novel diagnostic techniques in the clinical diagnostic space with a recent focus on rapid techniques in microbiology and infectious disease.
