Resident Physician
AdventHealth Sebring
Sebring, FL, United States
I, Dr. Muhammad Sohaib Asghar, a graduate of Liaquat National Medical College, Karachi, and started working as an Internal Medicine Resident at AdventHealth, FL in June 2023. With time my interest in clinical research kept growing and currently, I stand to be the corresponding author of 206 internationally indexed publications. My main field of research is Internal Medicine which is a broad field and as an Internal Medicine Specialist focusing on Infectious Diseases and Tropical Medicine in fellowship. Within this general field of Internal Medicine, I am currently specializing in managing in-hospital and outpatient clinical management of patients (General Hospital-based Medicine), performing clinical research and data science management, statistical analysis, and study design. These data analysis skills and performing independent clinical research by formulating study designs make me stand out in my field. Not many clinicians can perform independent clinical research on patient data and statistically analyze the scientific content. My research holds a unique place in the field because the data is clinically derived and outcomes-based analysis of the patient’s prognosis. The skillset I use in my study designs is unique because the data analysis would be adjusted for common clinical confounders and most of the associations drawn from the statistics are independent of any influencing factors that would bias the results. Since I am a Clinical Researcher and study Clinical Medicine, the overarching goal of my research is to solve commonly sought clinical problems. My work has practical applications in the field of Clinical Medicine as most questions arise from varying Clinical Presentations of the patients and the ongoing research provides answers to those Clinical questions. I was working as a Post Doc Researcher in the department of Internal Medicine, Division of Nephrology and Hypertension at Mayo Clinic Rochester, MN for over a year. The most notable contributions to Science included work as PostDoc on Proteomic Analysis by Laser capture Microdissection for identifying proteins (Mass
Spectrometry) predicting CKD and Morphometric analysis by development of Artificial Intelligence models (AIforia) on Kidney Biopsies to predict CKD prognosis. Currently, I am starting a Clinical Position (Resident Physician) in the department of Internal Medicine for the next 3 years at Advent Health Florida. Post that, I am planning to do a Clinic Fellowship in Infectious Diseases for another 2 years with a broader goal of being in Academic Medicine and be a future leader in the field.
