Infectious Diseases Fellow
Johns Hopkins University
Baltimore, Maryland, United States
My name is Dariusz Hareza, MD, and I am currently an infectious diseases fellow at Johns Hopkins University. My research focus is on antimicrobial resistance (AMR), specifically the molecular epidemiology and optimal treatments for non-CTX-M extended-spectrum beta-lactamase-producing Enterobacterales (ESBL-E). My mentors are Pranita Tamma, MD, MHS and Sara Cosgrove, MD, MSc. I recently completed a master's program in clinical investigation at the Bloomberg School of Public Health to obtain skills in biostatistics, epidemiology and grant writing. I am also a fellow at the NIH-funded Antibacterial Resistance Leadership Group (ARLG), providing me access to a network of AMR researchers, funding for my research, and the ability to take part in various committees. I hope to use the knowledge and skills obtained from these experiences to apply for an NIH career development award and work at an academic center studying antimicrobial resistance. Outside of my career, I enjoy spending time outdoors, stargazing, reading about personal finance, playing chess and the piano, and watching NHL Blackhawks games. My hometown is Chicago and I visit often to spend time with friends and family while enjoying all the City has to offer.
