Romney Humphries, PhD D(ABMM) received her PhD in bacteriology from the University of Calgary, Canada and completed a clinical and public health microbiology CPEP fellowship at UCLA. She served as the Section Chief of Clinical Microbiology for UCLA for 7 years, after which she transitioned to three years in industry, as Chief Scientific Officer at Accelerate Diagnostics. She is currently the Medical Director of Microbiology at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, and Division Director for Laboratory Medicine. She is a Professor in the department of Pathology, Microbiology, and Immunology.
Dr. Humphries is a member of the Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI) Antibiotic Susceptibility Testing (AST) Subcommittee, the College of American Pathologists (CAP) Microbiology Committee, the American Society for Microbiology (ASM) Professional Practices Committee, and vice chair of the Infectious Diseases Society of America Diagnostics Committee. Her research interests include the development of novel tests for the diagnosis of antimicrobial resistance and infectious diseases.
