Dr. Kam Kai-Qian completed her undergraduate medical education at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore. She began her residency in Pediatric Medicine with SingHealth in 2013 and earned her MRCPCH and Master of Medicine (Pediatric Medicine) degrees in 2016. From 2017 to 2018, she served as Chief Resident in the Pediatric Medicine residency program.
After finishing her residency, Dr. Kam joined the Pediatric Infectious Disease service at KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital (KKH). Her research interests include emerging infections including COVID-19, infections in young infants, vaccinations, antimicrobial stewardship, infections in immunocompromised patients and public health research. She is an active member of the Hospital Infection Control Committee, the National Antimicrobial Resistance Control Committee, and the National Antimicrobial Stewardship Expert Panel.
In December 2020, Dr. Kam was appointed as the lead for the KKH COVID-19 Vaccination team, where she played a pivotal role in establishing the KKH Vaccination Centre to support COVID-19 vaccination efforts for patients and staff. Additionally, Dr. Kam is deeply engaged in education, teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students across three medical schools.
From 2023 to 2024, she was part of the Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Institute and participated in the research study titled "Epidemiology and Outcomes of Broad-Spectrum Antibiotic De-escalation in Patients with Suspected Sepsis in US Hospitals". Advancing her interest in clinical research and public health, Dr. Kam obtained a Master of Public Health degree from Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health in May 2024.
