Dr. Bender Ignacio is a Joint Associate Professor in the Allergy and Infectious Diseases Division at the University of Washington and the Vaccine and Infectious Diseases Division at the Fred Hutch Cancer Center. She is the Director of UW Positive Research, a DAIDS-affiliated clinical research unit that conducts a broad range of HIV and comorbidity research. She has had a long track record of working on HIV-associated malignancies, including through the AMC network and collaborative work in several resource-constrained settings. She also works on the role of antiretroviral therapy and co-infections on immune activation in HIV. She is a prior Director on the HIVMA Board and is currently the Chair of the Advocacy Captains sub-committee of PPAC (IDSA/HIVMA)
