Dr. Shannon Ross is a Professor of Pediatrics and Microbiology in the Division of Pediatric Infectious Diseases at the University of Alabama at Birmingham Heersink School of Medicine. Dr. Ross earned her medical degree from the University of Alabama School of Medicine. She completed her Pediatric residency and Pediatric Infectious Diseases fellowship at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. During her fellowship training Dr. Ross also earned an MSPH in Clinical Research at the University Of Alabama School Of Public Health. She has been a faculty member in the University of Alabama at Birmingham Department of Pediatrics since 2006. Dr. Ross is an active clinician and researcher with her work focusing on congenital cytomegalovirus infection. Dr. Ross is the Medical Director of the Children’s of Alabama-Benjamin Russell Hospital’s Antimicrobial Stewardship Program, where she leads a team that works to implement guidelines and policies regarding appropriate antimicrobial use to improve patient care.
