Christiana Smith-Anderson, MD, PhD, is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Colorado School of Medicine in the Section of Pediatric Infectious Diseases and Epidemiology and the co-Director of the Children’s Hospital Colorado Immunodeficiency Program (CHIP) clinic's Perinatal HIV Program. Her clinical interests are in the management of infants, children, and youth who are living with HIV and in the prevention of perinatal transmission of HIV and other pathogens. She was an author of the recent American Academy of Pediatrics Clinical Report on Infant Feeding for Persons Living with and at Risk for HIV in the United States and is a member of the Department of Health and Human Services Panels on the Prevention and Treatment of Opportunistic Infections in HIV-Exposed and HIV-Infected Children and on Antiretroviral Therapy and Medical Management of Children Living with HIV. Dr. Smith-Anderson also leads a translational research program that investigates the clinical and immunologic consequences associated with in utero exposure to maternal inflammation in the setting of HIV and other infections.
