Susan Bleasdale Casey, MD, FACP, FIDSA serves the University of Maryland Medical Center (UMMC) as the Vice President and Chief of Quality and Safety. In this new role, Dr. Casey is responsible for the oversight and executive management of all aspects of quality and patient safety for the University of Maryland Medical Center (UMMC) Downtown and Midtown campuses in collaboration with UMMC and the University of Maryland School of Medicine (UMSOM) senior leadership.
Dr. Casey earned her Bachelor of Science degree in biology, graduating with Departmental Distinction, from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and earned her medical degree from Rush Medical College in Chicago. She holds certifications and licensures from a number of professional medical organizations, including as an American Board of Internal Medicine Diplomate and ABIM Infectious Disease Diplomate, and has earned numerous honors over the course of her prestigious career, including being named Woman Physician of the Year in Illinois by the American College of Physicians in 2021
