Dr. mike Reid is the Chief Science Officer in the Bureau of Global Health Security and Diplomacy (GHSD) in the US State Department, where he is responsible for providing scientific input on all PEPFAR programming.
Dr Reid is also an Associate Professor and Infectious Diseases physician at the University of California in San Francisco (UCSF). At UCSF, he serves as the Associate Director of the Center for Global Health Diplomacy, Delivery and Economics.
Dr Reid has worked in academic global health for the last 15 years, pursuing HIV and TB policy and implementation science research in diverse settings in Sub-Saharan Africa. He has published >100 peer-reviewed papers, including leading the Lancet Commission on Tuberculosis.
He completed medical school at Cambridge University and medical residency in London, England, and New York, USA. He received his MPH from UC Berkeley and completed his infectious disease fellowship at UCSF in San Francisco.
