Dr. William F. Wright is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Infectious Diseases at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, Baltimore, Maryland, USA. He received his D.O. degree in Medicine from the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine and the M.P.H. degree with an emphasis in biostatistics and epidemiology from Drexel University School of Public Health, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. His research interests lie in the broad areas of prolonged undiagnosed febrile conditions known as fever of undetermined or unknown origin (FUO), antimicrobial resistance (AMR), and diagnostic clinical microbiology.
Specifically, Dr Wright’s research focuses on the following areas: (1) contribution of 18F-FDG-PET imaging in FUO evaluations, (2) contribution of emerging molecular imaging techniques for pathogen-specific diagnoses in patients with FUO, (3) contributions of broad-range molecular assays as diagnostic tools for FUO investigations, and (4) data syntheses on the influences of geographic and medical ecology factors to final diagnoses among FUO patients.
