Dr. Weatherhead is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics and Medicine in the Sections of Pediatric Tropical Medicine, Pediatric Infectious Diseases and Adult Infectious Diseases at Baylor College of Medicine (BCM) in Houston, Texas. She completed her MD at Michigan State University College of Human Medicine followed by her residency and fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine and Texas Children's Hospital. She is quadruple board certified in pediatrics, internal medicine, pediatric infectious diseases, and adult infectious disease with a sub-specialty certificate in tropical medicine and travelers’ health and a PhD in immuno-parasitology. Dr. Weatherhead is the Assistant Dean at the National School of Tropical Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine and the Medical Director of the Pediatric Tropical Medicine Clinic at Texas Children’s Hospital. Dr. Weatherhead is also the Director of the Pediatric Infectious Disease Fellowship Tropical Medicine and Global Health Track and the Associated Director of the Adult Infectious Disease Fellowship Tropical Medicine and Global Health Track and Baylor College of Medicine. Dr. Weatherhead's laboratory studies parasite infections and the host immune response interactions with the aim to develop anti-parasitic vaccines.
