Dr. Christine Petersen’s work focused on prevention of zoonotic diseases, primarily epidemiology and immunobiology of vector-borne and parasitic diseases. Dr. Petersen was the scientific program chair for the American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene from 2021-2023. Dr. Petersen’s collaborative group has worked in Brazil, India and Ethiopia via NIH/Fogarty and NIAID-funded studies focused on tranmission and host immune susceptibility to zoonoses. Dr. Petersen’s published and patented work demonstrates the ability to target reservoir host species for immunologic and parasitologic control of infections to promote disease elimination. Dr. Petersen is Professor at Ohio State University, College of Veterinary Medicine, Fellow of the American Society of Tropical medicine and Hygiene and a member of the National Academy of Medicine.
