Peter Rabinowitz MD,MPH is Professor of Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences, Family Medicine, Global Health and Medicine at the University of Washington Schools of Public Health and Medicine. Dr. Rabinowitz’s research and clinical focus is on emerging infectious diseases and One Health. He provides clinical care for patients with vector-borne and zoonotic diseases in the UW Infectious Disease and Tropical Medicine Clinic.
Dr. Rabinowitz is Director of the UW Center for One Health Research and is the Principal Investigator for a CDC Cooperative Agreement that is engaged in global disease surveillance strengthening in Eastern Europe, Central Asia, and Latin America. He also is a MPI for the United World Antiviral Network (UWARN), a NIH-funded Center for Research in Emerging Infectious Disease (CREID). He is the co-Director of the UW Alliance for Pandemic Preparedness representing 13 centers across UW engaged in pandemic-related research, training, and services. He is also the co-chair of the UW School of Medicine Workgroup for incorporating Planetary Health into the medical school curriculum.
Dr. Rabinowitz completed a Family Medicine residency through the University of California San Francisco, and fellowships in General Preventive Medicine and Occupational and Environmental Medicine at the Yale School of Medicine, where he served as Associate Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine. He has been a visiting scientist at the WHO Global Influenza Program, the UN Food and Agriculture Organization, and the Stanford School of Medicine Center for Innovation in Global Health.
