Dr. Despain began his career at Brigham Young University where he recieved a Bachelors and Master's degree in Microbiology and Molecular Biology studying mycobacteriophage thearpy and mechanisms of glutaraldehyde disinfection on sporulating microorganisms. After completion of these degrees, Dr. Despain was admitted to the Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences in Washigton State where he obtained a the degree of Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine and comissioned into the United States Air Force as a Health Professions Scholar. Dr. Despain completed Internal Medicine Residency training at Keesler Air Force Base Medical Center and is currently in training as a Felllow Physician in the Department of Infectious Diseases at Brooke Army Medical Center.
