Chris Kaperak, MD is a second year fellow in Infectious Disease at the University of Chicago (U of C). He completed medical school at the University of Virginia and internal medicine residency at the U of C. His previous interests in species diversity and the microbiome led him to work with the Duchossois Family Institute (DFI) at the U of C to investigate the association between the gut microbiome and infection in heart transplant recipients. He has developed a passion for HIV care, particularly in regards to HIV care delivery in the setting of long-acting injectable therapy. To help pursue this area of research, he will be completing a Master's of Science during his fellowship training.
