Dr. Mounzer is a clinical researcher who participated as a Principle Clinical Investigator in conducting more than sixty pivotal trials evaluating the efficacy and safety of new HIV and HCV agents, HIV resistance, treatment strategies to better contain the disease and its spread in our community. Dr. Mounzer has had a long term commitment to the HIV Research Team at the Wistar Institute. This partnership has enhanced understanding of the immune system’s role in controlling HIV and HCV, particularly the innate immunity. This collaboration has led to important findings that paved the ground to a high priority study funded by the NIH looking at the impact of Interferon alpha at eradicating latent reservoir. This is a milestone in our efforts to cure HIV.
