Dr. Kalpana Gupta is the Associate Chief of Staff and Chief of Infectious Diseases at VA Boston Healthcare System. She is a Professor of Medicine at Boston University School of Medicine and Lecturer at Harvard Medical School.
Dr. Gupta is a clinical investigator with expertise in large database studies and multi-site clinical trials on prevention and treatment of bacterial infections. Her research topics include UTI, surgical site infections, multi-drug resistance and COVID epidemiology and prevention. She chaired the 2010 IDSA-ESCMID Clinical Practice Guidelines on Treatment of UTI in Women and is a co-author on the recently published IDSA Clinical Practice Guidelines on Asymptomatic Bacteriuria as well as Guest Editor for the 2024 Issue of ID Clinics on complicated UTI.
