Seema Jain, MD is the Chief of the Division of Communicable Disease Control in the Center for Infectious Diseases at the California Department of Public Health (CDPH). As a medical epidemiologist and clinical infectious diseases physician, Dr. Jain has worked extensively in domestic and international public health, on a myriad of diseases including influenza and pneumonia, foodborne and waterborne infections, and other emerging infections, including COVID-19. Dr. Jain completed an internal medicine residency at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), the Epidemic Intelligence Service Fellowship at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and an infectious diseases fellowship at Emory University. She remains clinically active as an Attending Physician at UCSF. Prior to joining the CDPH in 2017, Dr. Jain served as a medical epidemiologist at the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for over ten years, and was most recently stationed in New Delhi, India.
