Sara Hurtado Bares is an Associate Professor of Internal Medicine in the Division of Infectious Diseases at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. Dr. Bares earned her medical degree from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City and completed her Internal Medicine residency, chief residency and Infectious Diseases fellowship at the University of Chicago. Since joining University of Nebraska Medical Center in 2013, Dr. Bares has been active in patient care, clinical research, and medical education. She has led clinical trials in the areas of HIV prevention and treatment, serves as the Kansas/Nebraska AIDS Education and Training Center Medical Director for Omaha, and co-directs the pre-clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases curriculum in the medical school.
