Jo Yi is a PhD student at the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore, where she is part of the Infectious Disease Modelling Unit under the supervision of Asst. Prof. Lim Jue Tao. She holds a bachelor's degree in Engineering from the University of Hong Kong, where she developed skills in quantitative analysis and modeling techniques. Her current research at NTU applies causal inference methods to infectious disease modeling, focusing on developing statistical approaches to evaluate the effectiveness of public health interventions. Her work aims to improve the understanding of how various strategies can effectively control the spread of infectious diseases, with a specific emphasis on vector-borne diseases and antimicrobial resistance. Beyond her doctoral studies, Jo Yi leads efforts in the global International Genetically Engineered Machine (iGEM) community on biosecurity, biosafety, and policy to promote the responsible use of biological sciences.
