Rodrigo has a degree in Biological Sciences from the Universidad Austral de Chile. After finishing his training, he worked for 6 years at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile where he participated as a co-inventor of thyroid cancer diagnostic and prognostic tests. Rodrigo is currently a Ph.D. candidate for the Doctorate program in Science and Innovation in Medicine at the Universidad del Desarrollo. In his doctoral thesis, he uses genomic tools to understand the evolution and clonal replacement of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus in Latin America. In addition, he participates in several projects associated with the genomic characterization of antimicrobial resistance, and the search for biomarkers in carbapenem-resistant pathogens.
