Dr. Ban AL-Sayyed is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics and Division Director of Pediatric Infectious Diseases at Loyola University Hospital and Medical Center. She is a graduate of Jordan University Hospital of Science and Technology, Irbid, Jordan. She did her residency at St. Joseph Hospital and Medical center in Paterson, NJ; and did her fellowship training at Montefiore Hospital and Medical Center in Bronx, NY. She worked in different institutions nationally and internationally. Dr. AL-Sayyed is a clinical educator and a pediatric infectious diseases physician, with over 24 years of experience in management of pediatric infections. She leads pediatric antimicrobial stewardship and infection prevention at her institution. She has special interest in evidence-based medicine, development of clinical pathways, and has a soft spot for teaching and clinical education! Currently, she is conducting multiple studies concentrating on diagnostic stewardship and its role in improving patient care and antibiotic utilization at her institution. She is also involved in virtual clinical medical education for medical students and residents in underserved areas internationally.
