M. Gabriela Cabanilla, PharmD, PhC, is an assistant professor and an infectious diseases pharmacist clinician at the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center. She completed her Doctor of Pharmacy degree at the University of New Mexico and subsequently finished both PGY1 Pharmacy Practice and PGY2 Infectious Diseases Pharmacy residencies at the University of New Mexico Hospitals.
Dr. Cabanilla's research focuses on optimizing antimicrobial therapy, particularly in complex infections such as MRSA bacteremia and invasive fungal infections. She has published multiple peer-reviewed articles and presented her work at national and international conferences. Her recent studies include evaluating the impact of ceftaroline duration in persistent MRSA bacteremia, and investigating CMV disease in minority kidney transplant recipients.
Dr. Cabanilla also has been involved in several ECHO (Extension for Community Healthcare Outcomes) programs, serving as the medical director for the Infectious Diseases Consult ECHO and as a curriculum planner for other ECHO initiatives.
