Dr. Hammer earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Temple University School of Pharmacy (TUSP). She completed her PGY1 Pharmacy Residency at the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center (OSUWMC) and her PGY2 Pharmacy Residency in Infectious Diseases at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC). She is an Infectious Disease Specialist and Clinical Team Leader at Atrium Health in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Her research interests include multidrug-resistant organisms (MDROs), Pseudomonas spp., gram-negative bloodstream infections, fungal infections, immunocompromised hosts, clinical microbiology and rapid diagnostics. Dr. Hammer has published articles in Open Forum Infectious Diseases, Antimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy, Diagnostic Microbiology and Infectious Disease, Hospital Pharmacy, Therapeutic Advances in Infectious Disease and American Journal of Infection Control. She has written chapters for textbooks that include McGraw-Hill’s NAPLEX® Review Guide. She has served as a reviewer of Antimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy, and Diagnostic Microbiology and Infectious Disease.
Dr. Hammer has been active in a number of professional organizations including American Society for Microbiology (ASM) and the European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (ESCMID), and has served on the Programs Committee for the Society of Infectious Diseases Pharmacists (SIDP) and on the Planning Committee for Making a Difference in Infectious Diseases (MAD-ID).
