Carolyn (Carly) Mackey graduated from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in 2017 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. Following her undergraduate graduation, Carly moved to Atlanta, Georgia to attend Emory University Rollins School of Public Health to pursue her Master of Public Health in Epidemiology. While she was a graduate student, she worked as a Graduate Research Assistant for Emory University’s Center for the Disease of Incarcerated Persons, and worked as a Research Associate for the Georgia Emerging Infections Program (GA EIP) on the ‘All Staphylococcus aureus’ surveillance project. Upon graduating in with her MPH in 2019, she continued her employment at the GA EIP working in several different research and project coordination roles. Carly was a Surveillance Epidemiologist conducting Clostridioides difficile research in the metro-Atlanta area for 3 years, and subsequently worked briefly as the Hospital Acquired Infections Data Coordinator. In 2022, Carly began her role at the GA EIP as the Invasive Mold and Endemic Mycoses Project Coordinator.
