Dr. Tomefa Asempa, PharmD. Associate Director, CAIRD, Hartford Hospital
Primary interest area within the field of Infectious Diseases is with understanding the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of investigational and approved antibacterial agents and the translation into positive patient outcomes. Pre-clinical research: I have experience utilizing a variety of murine infection models including thigh infection, lung infection, and complicated urinary tract infection models to assess drug exposure-bacteria response relationships. Have experience in conventional and novel susceptibility testing modalities (phenotypic tests and PCR platforms). Clinical research: Experienced in the coordination and management of clinical trials assessing clinical response and drug pharmacokinetics in a variety of populations ranging from healthy volunteers to critically ill. In addition, I have experience with pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic modeling and simulation of animal and human data. In my current role as Associate Director, I serve as Principal Investigator for several federal and industry-funded studies in the pre-clinical and clinical stages.
