Brian Lee, MD, FAAP is a Global Director of Clinical Development in Infection & Immunity at Roche Diagnostics Solutions. He is a board-certified specialist in pediatric infectious diseases, Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) School of Medicine, and Associate Editor of the Pediatric Infectious Disease Journal. Before joining Roche, he served as Co-Director of the Division of Infectious Diseases, Founding Director of the Antimicrobial Stewardship Program, and Director of the Pediatric Tuberculosis Program at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland.
Throughout his career, Dr. Lee has been passionate about promoting the appropriate use of antimicrobial agents to address the global health threat of antimicrobial resistance. His efforts have included presentations on antimicrobial stewardship at local, regional, and national forums and a tenure as Chair of the Antimicrobial Stewardship/Resistance Working Group for the California Healthcare-Associated Infections Advisory Committee. At Roche, he oversees the diagnostic strategy for antimicrobial resistance and stewardship and leads efforts to leverage diagnostics to improve antibiotic decision making, including the development of point-of-care assays, syndromic panels, tests for multidrug-resistant organisms, as well as other innovative solutions.
Dr. Lee earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Biological Sciences from Stanford University and his Doctorate of Medicine from UCSF School of Medicine. He completed Pediatric Residency at Stanford University and Paediatric Infectious Diseases Fellowship at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland. Dr. Lee belongs to the American Academy of Pediatrics, Pediatric Infectious Diseases Society, Infectious Diseases Society of America, European Society for Paediatric Infectious Diseases, and European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases.
