Sammy Cheng is a second-year medical student at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology from the University of Rochester. Sammy has conducted prior research in the Werren Lab, focusing on lateral gene transfers from bacteria to insects, and has also contributed to studies using evolutionary rate correlations to explore potential interacting proteins with ACE2 in relation to the COVID-19 pandemic. He currently works as part of the Gendlina lab performing QI research in infectious diseases.
