Natalya Beneschott, MD is a third-year pediatric infectious diseases fellow at Vanderbilt University Medical Ceter. Natalya was born and raised in the Reno/Lake Tahoe area in Western Nevada. She pursued her undergraduate degree in Biology at the University of Nevada, Reno. After medical school at the University of Nevada School of Medicine, she headed north to the Medical College of Wisconsin for her pediatrics residency. During residency and pediatric ID fellowship, she developed her interest in the infectious predisposition of the critically ill and immunocompromised populations. Under the mentorship of Dr. Buddy Creech, they designed a prospective study to characterize immunological cell function and immunometabolism in children with persistent inflammation, immunosuppression, and catabolism syndrome (PICS) after surgical CHD repair. Preliminary findings of the study will be presented at IDWeek 2024.
