Dr. Nusrat Epsi, an assistant professor at USUHS, received her Ph.D. in Biomedical informatics from Rutgers University. Her doctoral research focuses on biological networks to uncover cellular organization, functioning, and pathways that contributed to drug resistance in cancer treatment and developed an algorithm that identifies treatment-response biomarkers to chemotherapy across all cancer types. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Nusrat thought data could be a powerful tool to fight against COVID-19. Therefore, she joined Infectious Disease Clinical Research Program (IDCRP) at HJF and has applied her computational and statistical skills to various COVID-19 research projects. Her research focuses on developing algorithmic and machine learning approaches to improve COVID-19 prognosis, patient triage, and clinical decision-making.
