Marie(-noelle) Billard is an epidemiologist and a PhD candidate with the RSV research group of Prof. Louis Bont at the University Medical Center Utrecht, The Netherlands. Her research focuses on the burden of viral respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) to support the introduction RSV vaccine or monoclonal antibodies in national immunization programs and on the epidemiology of respiratory viruses. In 2019, she joined the largest birth cohort study on RSV led by the respiratory syncytial virus consortium in Europe (RESCEU) to estimate the healthcare burden and long-term consequences of RSV infections in healthy term-born infants. Since then, Marie has also combined RSV research with her previous experience in public health surveillance in France and Canada to improve our understanding of the changes in hMPV and RSV epidemiology since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
