Mari Rose A.De los Reyes, MD, MPH is an Adult Infectious Disease Specialist. She is also a fellow of IDSA. Currently, she is Head of the Section of Infectious Diseases at the Asian Hospital and Medical Center in the Philippines. Aside from being a clinician, she is involve in various clinical trials and has published several papers in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
In 2017 when she was Head of the Medical Department at the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine and President of the Philippine Society for Microbiology and Infectious Diseases in 2017 when the Global Point Prevalence Survey in the Philippines started. From 16 hospital, her network has since increased to more than 80 public and private hospitals all over the Philippines. Since then she has made either oral or poster prsentations about her work in this field in interanational conferences and meetings.
One of her advocacies now is on antimicrobial stewardship. She is currently working with several stakeholders to be able to strengthen the policy and implementation of surgical prophylaxis guideline because based on the data derived from the Global PPS survey, more than 80 percent of prescribers in the Philippines still give surgical prophylaxis for more than one day. She hopes that with the continuous support from the Philippines Department of Health, the point prevalencen sruvey will continue.
