Sara Y. Tartof, PhD MPH is a Research Scientist Epidemiologist with the Kaiser Permanente Southern California Department of Research & Evaluation. She has particular interest in the use of electronic health record data to execute epidemiologic studies, particularly the application of findings from studies to improve clinical care and public health. Dr. Tartof has over a decade of experience leading R01s and large multisite and single site studies derived from electronic medical records, and over 15 years leading large research teams in data collection, data management and successful study execution. She currently leads an extensive research program on vaccine effectiveness of COVID-19, influenza, pneumococcal and RSV vaccine research. Her vaccine portfolio includes participation in two CDC-funded nationwide networks, as well as three industry-supported FDA-regulatory studies. She has been a Co-Investigator in the Vaccine Safety Datalink Consortium for twelve years. Dr. Tartof has experience conducting and leading large recruitment studies within the Kaiser Permanente healthcare system, as well as leading outbreak and other field investigations. She is committed to supporting our nation’s public health efforts and works closely with health departments and the CDC on research as well through her role as a supervisor of CDC Epidemic Intelligence Service Fellows.
