Flor M. Munoz is Associate Professor of Pediatrics, Infectious Diseases, Molecular Virology and Microbiology at Baylor College of Medicine (BCM), and Director of Transplant Infectious Diseases at Texas Children’s Hospital, Houston, TX. She is a physician-scientist with projects supported by NIH, CDC, BMGF and industry, focusing on vaccines, the epidemiology of respiratory infections in healthy and immunocompromised hosts, and the evaluation of safety and immunogenicity of vaccines in pregnant women, children, and immunocompromised hosts. She has contributed numerous publications on respiratory viruses, vaccines, and maternal immunization. She is a former member of the AAP Committee on Infectious Diseases (COID) (2015-2021), currently member of the Section on Infectious Diseases (SOID), the CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) MPox working group, the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ACOG) Immunization Expert Group, the Pediatric Infectous Diseases Society (PIDS) Research Committe, and the Research Committee of the European Society of Pediatric Infectious Diseases (ESPID). She serves as IRB chair at BCM, as well as faculty of vaccinology courses at Institut Pasteur, the International Vaccine (IVI) Institute in Korea, and in Latin America (PEIVAC). She is a member of various national and international academic societies, including the Society for Pediatric Research (SPR) and the Latin American Society of Pediatric Infectious Diseases (SLIPE), and an investigator and consultant in projects supported by the Coalition of Epidemic Preparendess Innovation (CEPI) where she leads the Special Populations workstream as part of the Brighton Collaboration and SPEAC group, the Global Vaccine Data Network (GVDN), and projects of WHO that focus on maternal and infant health.
