Katie A. Parsels, PharmD, AAHIVP is a Clinical Pharmacist at the State University of New York (SUNY) Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse, New York. She graduated from Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences in 2019, and completed her PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency in 2020, and PGY-2 Infectious Diseases Pharmacy Residency in 2021 at SUNY Upstate University Hospital. She is a member of the Society of Infectious Diseases Pharmacists (SIDP) and is a certified HIV Pharmacist (AAHIVP) by the American Academy of HIV Medicine. She has published several peer-reviewed papers, and presented research at the Vizient and the New York-State Council of Health-System Pharmacists (NYSCHP) annual conferences. During her PGY-1 and PGY-2 residencies, she was awarded the David Adelman Pharmacovigilance Research Award from NYSCHP, the SIDP Trainee Award, and the New York State Chapter of the American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP) Research Grant as a primary co-investigator. She served as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Binghamton University of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences for an Advanced Infectious Diseases course, and co-precepted pharmacy students and PGY-1 pharmacy residents. Infectious Diseases interests include improving antimicrobial stewardship during transitions of care, Staphylococcus aureus bacteremia, and novel antibiotics for multi-drug resistant bacteria.
