Dr Indumathi Venkatachalam is an infectious disease physician trained in healthcare epidemiology. A practising clinician, she is a member of the epidemiology team at Singapore General Hospital, Singapore. Her research interests are in the epidemiology of multidrug resistant organisms, healthare associated infections and innovations in infectious disease surveillance. Automation of real-time surveillance and integration into an alert-response framework has been made possible due to the convergence of digittal technology and eledtronic health records. She aims to leverage these to build robust surveillance systems for use in healthcare environments. At the same time, she is committed to buildng networks to improve infectious disease surveillance and AMR/HAI prevention in hospitals in lower and middle income countires.
