Dr. Brandon J. Smith is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Infectious Diseases at the University of Pittbsurgh Medical Center (UPMC). Dr. Smith obtained his PharmD from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh Pa in 2012 and his MD from Marshall University in Huntington WV in 2016. He completed his Internal Medicine Residency at UPMC Mercy Hospital (2019) and is Board Certified in Internal Medicine. He completed his Infectious Diseases Fellowship at UPMC (2019). During his fellowship he served as the Chief ID fellow (2020-2021) and completed the Antimicrobial Stewardship Track.
He has presented posters at IDWeek 2018, 2019, and 2020 as well as several posters at ASHP Midyear and MAD ID. Dr. Smith currently serves on the Antimicrobial Stewarship Committee at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital. His interests within ID include B-lactam therapeutic drug monitoring, PK/PD optimization, gram-negative bacterial resistance and antibiotic allergies.
