Dr. Blaschke completed her medical and graduate degrees at the University of California, San Diego and her Pediatric residency and fellowship in Pediatric Infectious Diseases at the University of Utah. She is currently a Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of Pediatric Infectious Diseases at the University of Utah and is the Division Chief for Pediatric Infectious Diseases. Dr. Blaschke's research interests include the development of rapid diagnostic testing to improve the management of bacterial and viral infections in children. She worked closely with BioFire Diagnostics to develop high-order multiplex molecular testing for pathogens causing infectious illness. Her current studies involve comparative bacterial genomics, with a goal of understanding syndromic pathogen virulence. Dr. Blaschke is a Fellow in the National Academy of Inventors and a Fellow of the Infectious Diseases Society of America and the Pediatric Infectious Diseases Society.
