Melissa Margolis is a third-year internal medicine resident at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City. She is currently applying for a fellowship in infectious disease. Her background is in public health, and she has conducted HIV research globally in Argentina, Botswana, Lesotho, the Netherlands, and Thailand. Before residency, she worked for the CDC while based at the San Francisco Community Health Center providing capacity building assistance to community-based organizations and state health departments nationwide to support implementation of HIV prevention. Prior to attending medical school at Drexel, she completed a master's degree in Health Policy, Planning, and Financing at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine and the London School of Economics. Her recent research focuses on emerging infectious diseases and using machine learning to develop predictions about individual-level susceptibility for future epidemics.
