Dr. Franzone completed his fellowship in infectious diseases at UNC-Chapel Hill where he will be joining the faculty as Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine. He graduated from Vanderbilt University before earning his medical degree from St. George’s University School of Medicine. He then completed an Internal Medicine residency at New York-Presbyterian/Queens Hospital where he stayed on to serve as Chief Resident.
Prior to training in infectious diseases, Dr. Franzone worked as an academic hospitalist at Duke University Hospital. His work on COVID-19 clinical trials lead to several peer-reviewed publications and recognition by both Duke University and the NIH. He plans to continue to work on clinical trials and in the antimicrobial resistance space.
