Dr. Christopher Crnich, MD, PhD, is the Chief of Medicine and Hospital Epidemiologist at the William S. Middleton VA Hospital and an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of Infectious Disease at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health (UW SMPH). He has a general research interest in healthcare-associated infections among vulnerable elderly patients with a specific focus on antibiotic use and antibiotic-resistance in long-term care facilities. Dr. Crnich is actively involved in SHEA's and IDSA's efforts to improve the structure and process of infection prevention and antibiotic stewardship in long-term care and is actively involved in the conduct of multiple studies focused on improving antibiotic prescribing practices in nursing homes.
