Aasith is an Infectious Disease fellow at Penn. She attended Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia (UPCH) medical school in Lima, Peru, rotating through the Alexander von Humboldt Tropical Medicine Institute. She completed her Internal Medicine Residency at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital, where she was selected for the Global Health Pathway track. She obtained the CTropMed® certification from the American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (ASTMH).
During her fellowship, Aasith's research focused on COVID-19 vaccination practices in people with HIV and intimate partner violence in pregnant women with HIV. Additionally, she has conducted research in Peru with "Proyecto Precancer," which works on implementing and sustaining new technologies in the cervical cancer program, including HPV GeneXpert testing in remote Amazon communities.
