Patty W. Wright, MD is a Professor of Medicine at the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. She graduated cum laude from the University of Alabama School of Medicine in Birmingham, where she was AOA. She completed her residency in Internal Medicine and her fellowship in Infectious Diseases, both at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. After joining the Vanderbilt faculty, she led the development of the Vanderbilt Antimicrobial Stewardship Program and served as its medical director for many years before transitioning to other activities. Her past roles at Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) include ID Fellowship Program Director, General ID Clinic Medical Director, Associate Director for Clinical Affairs for the Division of Infectious Diseases, and Safety Officer in the Office of Quality, Safety, and Risk Prevention. She currently serves as the VUMC Chief Medical Officer for Adult Ambulatory Clinics. She also continues to maintain a clinical ID practice with a focus on orthopedic infections.
