Dr. Louie completed his internal medicine residency at University Hospital at Stony Brook, his infectious diseases fellowship at University of Maryland, and was in private practice in central New Jersey for over 22 years. Currently he is an Associate Professor at the University of Rochester Medical Center, where he also serves as the Clinical Director of the Division of Infectious Diseases, Director of the ID Clinic, and Director of Hyperbaric Medicine. He is a member of the editorial board of Infectious Diseases in Clinical Practice. He has over 80 publications in peer reviewed journals, including New England Journal of Medicine, Annals of Internal Medicine, JAMA, and Clinical Infectious Diseases. He is vice chair of the Continuing Education Subcommittee for IDSA. Along with Dr. Madhavi Ponnapalli and Julia Pilat APN, he designed the ID Week "hands on" wound care presentations that have been ongoing since 2022. He has worked in 4 different wound centers during his career. He is currently editing a practical guide on wound care. His other interests include antimicrobial stewardship, orthopedic infections, and medical education.
