Sophie Katz is currently an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of Infectious Diseases, is the Associate Director of Pediatric Antimicrobial Stewardship, and leads the Outpatient Stewardship Program. She is a recipient of the 2020-2021 Leaders in Epidemiology, Antibiotic Stewardship and Public Health (LEAP) Fellowship through the Infectious Diseases Society of America, Pediatric Infectious Diseases Society and Society for Healthcare and Epidemiology, sponsored by the CDC. She attended medical school at LSU in Shreveport, Louisiana, did her Pediatric Residency and Chief Residency at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children in Philadelphia, PA, and completed fellowship in Pediatric Infectious Diseases and obtained a Master’s in Public Health from Vanderbilt University. Her research interests have focused on pediatric antimicrobial stewardship and have spanned from the role of biomarkers for assisting antibiotic stewardship in the inpatient setting to identification and implementation of outpatient antibiotic stewardship interventions.
