Dr. Luke Strnad (he/him/his), completed medical school at Loma Linda University School of Medicine, internal medicine residency and chief residency at the Beth Israel Deaconess Department of Medicine, and infectious disease fellowship training at the University of California San Francisco. He joined the Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU) infectious diseases faculty in 2016 with a secondary faculty appointment in the OHSU/Portland State University School of Public Health in Epidemiology Programs.
Dr. Strnad is on the clinician educator faculty pathway within the School of Medicine. He is the Associate Program Director for the Infectious Diseases Fellowship Program. At a national level he is a member of the IDSA Mentorship & Recruitment Subcommittee and a member of the IDSA’s Medical Education Community of Practice where he currently co-directs the IDWeek Medical Education Faculty Coaching Program.
In other roles Dr. Strnad is the Director of Quality Improvement for the Division of Infectious Diseases. He serves as the ID representative on the leadership team for OHSU’s Multidisciplinary Endocarditis (MEND) Conference Program. He is involved in collaborative work with OHSU's Addiction Medicine Program (IMPACT) designing and evaluating different models of care for patients with active substance use disorders and concomitant bacterial infections. He is a guideline panel member of the IDSA/ESCMID Clinical Practice Guidelines for Staphylococcus Aureus Bacteremia. He also does clinical TB work in conjunction with the Oregon State TB Program and non-tuberculous mycobacterial (NTM) clinical, educational and academic work at OHSU in collaboration the OHSU-PSU School of Public Health Center for Infectious Disease Studies where he is a Co-PI on multiple ongoing studies.
