Dr. Matt Hickey is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of HIV, ID, & Global Medicine at San Francisco General Hospital and an HIV primary care physician at the Ward 86 HIV clinic at San Francisco General Hospital. He also sees patients in the POP-UP clinic at Ward 86, a low-barrier HIV primary care clinic designed to meet the unique needs of people experiencing housing instability, substance use disorders, or severe mental illness. Dr. Hickey also conducts research in two main areas: 1) implementation research to improve delivery of hypertension and cardiovascular disease preventive care in rural East Africa and 2) developing and testing low-barrier models of HIV care for people experiencing homelessness and other barriers to retention in care in urban US-based settings.
