Dr. Hogan holds a M.D.,C.M. degree from McGill University (2011), and a Master’s degree in epidemiology from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (2013), where she worked on the early epidemiology of HIV-1 transmission in Central Africa. She completed infectious diseases training (2017) at McGill University, medical microbiology fellowship at Stanford University (2018), a Diploma of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene at the Gorgas Course in Tropical Medicine (2018), and global health diagnostics fellowship at Stanford University (2020). Dr. Hogan practices as a medical microbiologist at the British Columbia Centre for Disease Control where she leads the Parasitology Laboratory and co-leads the Molecular and Microbial Genomics Program, and practices as a general infectious diseases physician at Vancouver Coastal Health. Her main research area is the development and evaluation of infectious diseases diagnostics with a focus on integrated -omics approaches including metabolomics. She is also interested in evaluating novel technologies for clinical application, repurposing cost-effective diagnostic approaches, and the clinical and public health impact of these approaches. She serves as an Associate Editor for the Journal of Clinical Virology (2020-), and as an Editorial Board Member for the Journal of Clinical Microbiology (2023-).
