Louise-Marie Dembry, MD, MS, MBA, FIDSA, FSHEA, is a professor emeritus of medicine and epidemiology at the Yale University School of Medicine and the Yale School of Public Health. She served as the Yale-New Haven Hospital hospital epidemiologist until 2016 when she became the VA Connecticut Healthcare System (VACHS) hospital epidemiologist until January 2023. She remains active in the practice of infectious diseases at VACHS and continues to mentor infectious diseases fellows and faculty as well as medical and MPH students. She is a past SHEA treasurer (2009-2012) and past president of SHEA (2016), a past voting member of the CT Public Health Healthcare Associated Infections Advisory Committee as well as the Antimicrobial Resistance Task Force and Reportable Conditions Advisory Committee. Dr. Dembry’s interests include the prevention and control of antibiotic resistant organisms in healthcare settings with a focus on vancomycin resistant Enterococcus (VRE), patient safety, and healthcare facility preparedness for high consequence infections. Dr. Dembry received her undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan, her Master of Science from Wayne State University in Detroit, her medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine where she also completed her postgraduate training in medicine and infectious diseases, and her MBA degree from the University of New Haven.
